Carvajal wants Rodri to dump Man City for Madrid

With the retirement of Toni Kroos, Real Madrid are midfielder down going into next season. Although there are no plans for a replacement to be signed, Dani Carvajal believes that he has found the perfect player to fill the hole vacated by the German maestro – and it’s a familiar face for him.
During an interview with El Partidazo de COPE on Thursday, Carvajal spoke on Spain teammate Rodri Hernandez. He admitted that he’s been begging the Manchester City midfielder to join him at Real Madrid.
“Without a doubt, I’d want him at Real Madrid. I tell him every day to leave Manchester, there is no sun there, to come to Madrid because we need him. He tells me he has a contract… but he would be perfect for us.”
Rodri is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, and he’s had a very strong Euro 2024 for Spain, which he will hope to conclude by winning a fourth European Championship title for La Roja.
Man City are likely to be relaxed about the situation with Rodri, even if Real Madrid were to register their interest. It would surely take a big-bucks offer to prize him away from Pep Guardiola’s squad – even if a bid was accepted, it could be difficult to persuade him to join because of his past allegiances with Atletico Madrid.
Now, Rodri has spoken of the prospect of returning to Spain, repeating that he has 'three years left' on his contract at the Etihad, but also saying that Madrid is 'his home'.
"I try to analyse all the decisions I make, to have a criterion. And, above all, to go through the processes. I am very, very happy in England," he told AS, in an answer that will reassure City but also leave the door open for a potential return to Spain later in his career.
