Rivers has booked a place in the quarter-finals 2023 CAF Confederations Cup as the team was held to a 2-2 draw by Diable Noirs on Sunday in Uyo.
Rivers United came into the game brimming with confidence hoping for a victory on the day at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo but the team could manage a 2-2 draw to take their point haul to ten which is enough to guarantee them a place in the quarter-finals irrespective of result elsewhere.
The Nigerian champion will travel away for their final group games against Asec Mimosa of Abidjan.
Rivers United's feat ensures Nigeria keeps the four continental slots at least for another season as it consolidated Nigeria's position on CAF inter alia clubs coefficient ranking at number 12.
It also allows Rivers United to push for Nigeria:s first continental triumph in CAF club competition since winning the CAF Champions League trophy in 2004.
