The Super Eagles of Nigeria have emerged as the only team to win three matches at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Despite fielding a second-string side, the Super Eagles were too much to handle for the Wild Dogs as they thumped them 2-0.

Sadiq Umar and Willam Troost Ekong were the goal scorers for the Super Eagles in Wednesday's final group game.

After a barren first half, the Eagles took the lead ten minutes into the second half.

Iheanacho was played into space in the box, he curled a perfect pass with the outside of his left foot to the back post where Sadiq did the needful; tapping in from close range.

For the second goal, Moses Simon did most of the work but it was captain Ekong that had the decisive touch.

Simon beat three Guinea-Bissau defenders before firing a left-footed shot straight against the bar.

Troost-Ekong scored as the ball bounced to him a couple of yards out, but he was initially denied by the offside flag. After the VAR checked dragged on for several minutes, the goal was eventually given.

Eguavoen 56, is the only man to have coached Nigeria to win all three matches in the group phase of the AFCON since the country started participating at this level since 1963.

He was head coach when the Eagles defeated Ghana 1-0, Zimbabwe 2-0 and Senegal 2-1 at the Al Masry Stadium, Port Said to sweep the stakes at the 2006 finals.

Now he has done it again!

In 15 matches across four stints, the 1994 AFCON winner and two-time FIFA World Cup defender has left the field victorious in 13 matches, losing only two – the 0-1 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the semi-final of the 2006 finals and a 2012 AFCON qualifier in Guinea that was embroiled in circumstances of uncertainty, which the team lost by the odd goal.
