NBA superstar and billionaire LeBron James,, has admitted that he's "too cheap" to pay $8 a month to keep his blue verification badge on Twitter, despite the recent announcement by Elon Musk that "legacy" accounts will have to pay a fee starting from April 1st.

The announcement by Musk has been met with hesitancy from several individuals who question the value of paying almost $100 a year to maintain a verification badge.

However, the date of the announcement, which falls on April Fools' Day, has also sparked speculation that it could all be a prank, especially given Elon Musk's reputation as a notorious troll.

LeBron James has taken to Twitter to express his reluctance to pay for the blue verification badge, tweeting: "Welp guess my blue checkmark will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain't paying the 5."

It's worth noting that LeBron James was once the target of trolls on Twitter, back when Musk first introduced the blue checks to anyone who paid for Twitter Blue in November. As a result, an account pretending to be LeBron made a fake trade request from the Lakers, which sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy for a brief moment.

Despite being a billionaire, LeBron's unwillingness to pay for a blue verification badge is somewhat surprising, given that it serves as an official status and could potentially prevent impersonation. However, it's his choice whether he wants to pay for it or not.

If LeBron does indeed lose his blue verification badge, he wants his fans to know that his account is still the real deal. His handle, @KingJames, remains the same, and his authenticity remains unquestionable. Whether he decides to pay for the blue badge or not, his status as a basketball legend and social media influencer remains unaltered.
