Ballon D'or lost its relevance after Sneijder was denied in 2010 concludes social media users

A renowned football aficionado and diehard supporter of 3SC Football Club of Ibadan Jelil Olasunkami Arowoloh has written off the annual football award Ballon D’or after Messi won the 2023 Monday night.

Writing on his verifiable Facebook account Arowolo wrote,  “Messi winning Ballon D'or is part of the script. Before you defend the organizer, check the 2010 FIFA World Cup!

“In 2010, Sneijder won the Champions League, won the Italian League, and won the Italian Super Cup

“He also took an average Holland team to the final of the World Cup that year.

“Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta won the Spanish League.

“Xavi and Iniesta also went on to win the World Cup that year.

“You will think that the finalists had to be Sneijder, Xavi, and Iniesta.

“In the end, Sneijder was not even picked for the top three in the Ballon d'Or.

“When the winner was announced, it was Messi that was picked.

“Reason: although he didn't win the World Cup or Champions League, he was the highest goal scorer in Europe.

“Winning the World Cup was not important.

“This year, Haaland won the Champions League, won the Premier League, and won the English FA Cup.

“He was also the highest goal scorer in Europe.

“When the winner was picked, it was Messi.

“This time around, winning the World Cup was what is important. After all, it is Messi. The goalpost had to be shifted to favour him. If this is not corruption, I wonder what else it is.

“Like Harry Kane said, the award has lost its value because of Messi. Nothing to add.”
