Athletics' biggest stars, including Amusan, will compete at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic

World record holder Tobi Amusan has been confirmed for the women’s 100m hurdles at the 50th edition of the Prefontaine Classic, set to take place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Hayward Field, Oregon, United States.

The prestigious meet, part of the Wanda Diamond League series, will feature an elite cast of athletes, with Amusan lining up in one of the most anticipated events of the day alongside reigning Olympic champion Masai Russell of the United States and world number one Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.

Amusan’s return to the Prefontaine Classic marks a symbolic homecoming, as the Nigerian sprint queen set the current world record of 12.12s on the same track during the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

That performance not only earned her global acclaim but also cemented her status as the most dominant force in women’s sprint hurdles.

This season, the 28-year-old has been in impressive form as she continues her build-up to the World Athletics Championships. She clinched her second victory in the discipline this season in Ostrava in 12.45s on Tuesday and finished second in the last Siamonf League outing in Paris in a season’s best of 12.24s.

Russell, one of Amusan’s fiercest rivals this season, is also returning to familiar territory in Eugene. The American ran 12.33s to claim Olympic gold last summer and recently clocked 12.17s to set a new American record, making her the second-fastest woman in history over the distance after Amusan. Three of her ten fastest career times have also been set at Hayward Field.

Camacho-Quinn, another powerhouse in the event, adds even more depth to the field. The Puerto Rican won Olympic gold in Tokyo and bronze in Paris and owns a personal best of 12.26s.

She is currently ranked number one in the world in the event and has consistently challenged for podium finishes across global championships.

With three of the sport’s biggest names headlining the race, the women’s 100m hurdles is shaping up to be one of the most electrifying contests of the entire meet.

The 2025 Prefontaine Classic, celebrating its 50th edition, will feature a packed schedule of Diamond League events, including the Bowerman Mile, the Mutola Women’s 800m, and star-studded line-ups in the men’s and women’s 100m, 200m, and 400m.

The event will be broadcast live on NBC Sports and Peacock, with Lexus Legacy Experience VIP packages also available to fans.
