Athletes to present NIN as 2023 National Youth Games get September date

In a bid to curb age cheat, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports has adopted the National Identification Number, NIN as a means of authenticating Athletes' age, www.234sportsng.com reports 


This is one of the outcomes of the technical meetings between the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development officials, the Delta State Sports Commission, the local organizing committee, and technical directors from the 36 states and the FCT, Abuja. 

It was a consensus at the meeting that the NIN will go help in reducing the incident of age cheating to maximize the essence of the competition.

The date for the championship was also made known to the media after the proceedings. 


The 7th edition of the National Youth Games is billed for Asaba. The Delta State Capital is set to begin in September - and end on the 17th, 2023.


The Youth Games will feature not less than 30 sports as the games continue its tradition of exposing new athletes.


The Games are; Athletics, Gymnastics, Para – Table Tennis, Badminton, Handball, Boxing, Basketball, Hockey, Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Karate, and Tennis.

Others are Canoeing, Para-Athletics, Taekwondo, Chess, Squash and Scrabble, Cycling, Swimming, Volleyball, Football, Judo, Weightlifting, Golf, Rugby, and Wrestling.
