Arsenal medic-positive Saka, Havertz and Partey may start against Bournemouth on Saturday

Arsenal have many injury concerns to contend with ahead of their game with Bournemouth as the Premier League resumes following the international break.

Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners a scare after limping off for England, while Gabriel Martinelli will be assessed after picking up an issue while away with Brazil.

Kai Havertz, Thomas Partey, Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko did not join up with their countries for international duty, while Martin Odegaard and Kieran Tierney are longer-term absentees.

Saka was taken off after 51 minutes during England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece on Thursday after suffering a hamstring injury.

The winger was sent for a scan and withdrew from the Three Lions squad for the 3-1 win over Greece on Thursday.

Saka is said to be ‘hopeful’ about being fit to face Bournemouth and is being assessed by the club’s medical team with a final decision on his availability expected later this week.

Martinelli picked up an injury after appearing as a late substitute during Brazil’s 2-1 win over Chile on Friday.

He was spotted training with tape on his calf over the weekend and missed his country’s match against Peru.

“Gabriel complained of pain in his right calf and underwent an MRI on Sunday night, which showed a small area of muscle oedema,” a statement read. “[He] continues to undergo treatment by the National Team's Medical Dept.”

Martinelli flew home from Brazil on Wednesday morning and he will now be assessed in the coming days to determine the severity of the issue.

Havertz withdrew from the Germany squad ahead of their Nations League against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands due to a knee problem.

"Kai Havertz will miss the upcoming international matches due to knee problems. Get well soon, Kai!” read a statement from the German football association.

The forward scored his fourth goal in as many games in the 3-1 win over Southampton and is expected to be available for the return of the Premier League.

Thomas Partey withdrew from international selection for Ghana ahead of their 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying double-header with Sudan.

A statement read: “Thomas is unable to join the Black Stars due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, and his club has scheduled him for further tests in the coming days.”

Partey was suffering from illness and is expected to return to face Bournemouth having filled in at right-back during the win over Southampton.

Arsenal also hope to have Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White and Jurrien Timber back this weekend.
