With Southampton relegated Super Eagles playmaker Joe Aribo may return to the Scottish League.

John Hartson has also responded to a suggestion Rangers could move for Aribo reunion following Southampton's relegation.

The attacking midfielder, 26, left Ibrox for St Mary's back in the summer in a £6million switch after three years in Glasgow. His Saints career started well enough under Ralph Hasenhuttl but his game time was reduced under the Austrian's replacement, Nathan Jones, before he too was axed. Aribo has managed just 26 outings this season with the majority coming off the bench but he has netted twice.

Now Hartson admits he'd take Aribo back at Gers "in a heartbeat" if it was a transfer which became available, albeit the Welsh Celtic hero reckons no deal will be possible due to the expected finances involved.

Speaking on Go Radio, Hartson said: "The fee would have to come down, it won't be £ 10 million. It would have to be at least a third of that.
