Super Eagles playmaker Joe Aribo says he left Rangers to push himself out of his comfort zone once again - although he didn't expect to bring an audacious wonder goal with him.

The Nigerian playmaker went viral at the weekend with a magnificent solo goal in Southampton's pre-season friendly against Villareal ahead of the new English Premier League season.

He ran from his own half, cut in and out of half-a-dozen bodies and then slotted into the bottom corner with aplomb to rack up more than two million views.

Aribo admits he isn't so sure where he brought that out his locker from, but the move to Saints from Rangers is all about testing himself after Ibrox.

He told the BBC : "Yeah, I said to the boys inside, I don't know where I pulled the right foot chop from. But yeah, I'm really happy with it.

"Hopefully I can keep pushing on and do more for the team in games to come. I've always been a fighter. I've not had it all sweet because I've not been in academies.

"I've had to work and be out of my comfort zone. That's where you're at your best I think, when you're not comfortable. I believe in myself.

"I wouldn't have taken this challenge unless I thought I could showcase my talent, and that's what I want to be able to do."
