Even before the 2022-23 season began, Nigeria-born Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks said that he was going to play harder than he ever had in his life.

The two-time MVP has already won the NBA Finals but he said he was adamant about doing it again.

He sounded determined and driven to achieve his goals no matter how tough the competition was.

Recently speaking to The Athletic, Antetokounmpo opened up about what drives him to play so intensely.

With a surprising statement, he said that he’s not as good as some of the best players in the league.

“I’m not as talented as Steph. I’m not as talented as KD. I’m f—–g desperate,” Antetokounmpo said.

He added, “I f—–g work as hard as I can, because I don’t want to lose this s–t.”

Antetokounmpo is obviously a player who expects a lot from himself and will not rest unless he is pouring all of himself onto the court.

While some people may scoff at the fact that he doesn’t hold himself in the same regard as Curry or Durant, others see this as a helpful tool.

If Antetokounmpo always feels less than those players, he will try even harder and reach even higher.

Whatever is driving the Greek Freak, it’s working.

He is posting 31.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists a game, which are some of the best numbers of his career.

And his Bucks are currently the best team in the East and could be on their way to their next Finals appearance.
