Though they were rivals at some point, Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti is publicly backing Jose Mourinho to win the Europa League Final with Roma.

Ancelotti was quick to state he admits Sevilla ‘are doing well’ but he is confident Mourinho has enough experience to add another Europa League to his already impressive CV.

The Giallorossi will face the La Liga side on Wednesday in the Europa League Final at Budapest’s Puskas Arena.

It’s Roma‘s second consecutive European Final after last season’s Conference League, won 1-0 in Tirana thanks to Nicolò Zaniolo’s winner.

Ancelotti, a former Roma midfielder, believes the Giallorossi have a fair chance to lift the trophy tomorrow night.

“After a tough moment, Sevilla have done well in the last two months,” the Italian tactician said on Monday, as quoted by Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Real Madrid boss attended an event in Rome on the 40th anniversary of the club’s second Serie A title alongside several ex-teammates.

“Sevilla are well organised with a new coach, but Roma have their chances because they have a very expert coach in the Finals. Hopefully, they’ll win,” continued Ancelotti.

The 63-year-old went on to say that the Giallorossi should imitate his Real Madrid side in the coming years: “Keeping the past alive is a great strength for a club. Real Madrid are clearly doing so and if Roma do the same, they’ll be a better club in the future and can continue to win again.”

When asked if he still wants to win trophies as a coach, Ancelotti replied: “I do, but not for long,” confirming that he may retire soon.

Ancelotti scored 17 goals in 227 appearances with Roma between 1979 and 1987, winning one Serie A title and four Coppa Italia.
