The Nigerian sprint hurdler produced a brilliant performance in the women’s 100m hurdles, improving significantly from the 12.41 seconds she ran earlier this season.
Competing with confidence and rhythm, Amusan stormed to a time of 12.28s with a legal wind reading of +0.5m/s, marking her fastest performance of the year and the fourth fastest time of her illustrious career.
The performance underlines the resurgence of the reigning world record holder as she gradually builds momentum ahead of the major championships later in the season.
Amusan had earlier opened her campaign dominantly at the CAA Senior Athletics Championships, where she claimed gold in the women’s 100m hurdles to reaffirm her status as Africa’s queen of the event.
She followed that triumph with another encouraging display on the Diamond League circuit, finishing third in Shanghai against a strong field of elite hurdlers.
