Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu on Friday said former Super Eagles and Barcelona forward will add value to any team in the world amid insinuations in the media that he will join the Super Eagles technical crew led by Interim Manager Augustine Eguavoen.

In the last few days, there were media reports that NFF will no longer appoint Portuguese Jose Peseiro as a coach but include the former Tanzania gaffer, Amuneke as Super Eagles' assistant manager.

The NFF is yet to confirm or deny the rumour.

But Agu in a telephone chat with 234sportsng.com on Friday morning expressed his delight over the planned appointment and described such a laudable step by NFF and the Sports Ministry as the beginning of a new dawn for Nigerian football and its local coaches.

Agu described Eguavoen as a leader whose positive impact has changed the face of Nigerian football considering Super Eagles' newly found identity at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, adding that the arrival of Amuneke will surely add more quality to the backroom staff.

He maintained that Nigerian football is set to experience a massive turnaround given Amuneke's wealth of experience in the game as Nigeria continues its build-up towards Qatar 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana Black Stars next month.

“This is a great development for Nigeria football. His appointment is a big plus for the coaching crew, and all I can tell you is that Nigerian football is set to witness a massive turnaround.

"Coach Eguavoen is doing a great job with his assistants already, but bringing in Amuneke is a big plus for Nigerian football," he told 234sportsng.com

Sports Minister, Sunday Dare had earlier in the week endorsed the appointment of former Zamalek and Barcelona winger to assist coach Eguavoen in the Super Eagles dugout to finally end the speculations surrounding the appointment of Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles technical adviser.
