Amuneke and Bosso get different targets at Heartland and Bayelsa United
Former Super Eagles assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke has promised to help Heartland return to the top echelon of Nigeria football.
The former international was unveiled as the new Heartland head coach on Monday.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the office of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
The Naze Millionaires were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.
They compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season.
Amuneke said his immediate task is to help the Owerri club return to the top flight.
“I am someone with the objective and I do not involve myself in something that I am not capable of doing,” Amuneke said at the unveiling ceremony.
“I remember when I was unveiled as the coach of Tanzania one of the things I told them was that we would qualify for Afcon 2019 but everybody thought it was a joke but eventually we were able to qualify them for the Afcon for the first time after 39 years.
“Please, be rest assured that we will make sure that with your support we will take Heartland FC back to where it used to be.”
Meanwhile, Coach Ladan Bosso has been handed a target by Bayelsa United, Daily Post reports.
Bosso was recently appointed head coach of the Restoration Boys.
Bayelsa United took the decision to bring in the experienced gaffer following their poor showing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.
The Yenagoa club managed to escape relegation.
Bayelsa State sports commissioner Daniel Igali tasked Igali to ensure secure a continental ticket.
“You are an accomplished coach and we expect you to get us continental football next year,” Igali charged.
In his first stint with Bayelsa United, Bosso guided them to finish third in the NPFL.
