Ajagba vs. Shaw: Ajagba shares winning formula after inflicting first career loss on Shaw

Nigerian Boxing sensation, Efe Ajagba has shared his winning formula, after his victory over American Stephan Shaw on Sunday morning in New York.


Efe Ajagba and Stephan Shaw went the ten-round distance but the Nigerian emerged victorious posting 96 - 94 on the cards of all three judges. 

The hard-punching Nigerian now has  (17-1, 13 KOs) denting Shaw's boxing record with his first career loss  (18-1, 13 KOs).


In his post-fight remarks, the Las Vegas-based, heavyweight boxer remove the lid on how he was able to defeat the " undefeated " Colombian American. 

Ajagba who is known for landing big punches, and always looking for a knock out was a bit patient and careful using his big right. 

 “He tried to land the big shot. I was watching him to see what he was going to do,” said Ajagba after the fight. 

The Nigerian admitted that Shaw's jab kept him at a careful distance and thus take his time to pick the points that matters and ensures that he was patient enough to stay focused, and on course to see off the fight. 

It was a marked improvement on his last fight against the Cuban, Frank Sanchez when he lost his only professional fight.

The fight is proof that he can outpoint a boxer,  a skill he may need to work more on if he is ready to challenge any of the top ten guys In the division and ultimately challenge for a World title. 

When Ajagba was asked whether he is ready for the big names in the division, Ajagba said: 


 “It's tough, you know. I'll go back to the gym and start working on my boxing skills, start working hard.”
