Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is confident that Nigeria will defeat the Lone Stars of Sierra-Leone on Sunday to qualify automatically for the Afcon 2024 in Cote d’ Ivore on Sunday.

The Guinea-Bissau now top the group after beating Sao Tome by a lone goal, the Leone stars of Sierra Leone will host the Super Eagles at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium in Liberia on Sunday, in a clash of massive implication for both teams.

Nigeria only needs a win to confirm a place at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, while Sierra Leone need to win to keep their hopes of qualifying alive.

In a chat with a football website FL Musa revealed that the team’s main target in the game against Sierra Leone is to secure a win, and they are not under any pressure to deliver the it.

“The aim is to go there to win because if we win that game we qualify automatically to the AFCON, so we’re just going for the three points.”

“We are not under any pressure we are just going there to win, just get the three points so that the last match will just be fun for us. We know if we win this game we will qualify.”

Meanwhile, Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that the striker’s position in the National team is a tough one to claim despite finishing the Premier League campaign with Nottingham Forest as one of the hottest strikers in Europe.

Awoniyi scored in the last four games of the Campaign to help Nottingham Forest secure their stay in the league, amassing 10 goals in 27 appearances.

He will definitely be a good option to start for Nigeria in this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, but  the striker remained modest about his chance of leading the attack line, with a long list of players in the perking order.

“For me, there are a lot of hot strikers in the National team; Victor Osimhen looking at what he did in Napoli, Kelechi Iheanacho.

“Moffi (Terem), Boniface (Victor), every Nigerian striker is hot, so for me, I don’t like to talk about the future I will rather wait and see what happens in the future,” Awoniyi said.
