Abraham sets another record in Roma win
Since the year 2000, only Francesco Totti and Edin Dzeko had managed 24 competitive goals in a single term for Roma.
Nigeria born striker Tammy Abraham has equalled the Roma record set in 1929-30 for most goals in his first season and mocked Bodo/Glimt after the Conference League quarter-final. ‘No snowballs in Rome…’
The striker found the net just five minutes into this evening’s second leg tie at the Stadio Olimpico, setting the tone for what would eventually become a 4-0 rout.
It was a very special goal, his 24th of the current campaign, equalling the record set by Rodolfo Volk in 1929-30 as the most prolific striker in his debut Roma season.
Since the year 2000, only Francesco Totti and Edin Dzeko had managed 24 competitive goals in a single term for Roma.
Totti achieved it in 2006-07 with 32 goals in scored 25 in 2009-10.
Dzeko hit 39 goals in 2016-17 and 24 in 2017-18.
Roma had lost the first leg 2-1 in Norway, with a local Bodo/Glimt fan hitting the England international by flinging a snowball from the stands.
Abraham reacted by making a gesture warning he would have his revenge next time, and that’s precisely what he did.
“No snowballs in Rome. Semi finals here we come!!” he wrote on Instagram.
