The Head coach of Kwara United Football Club, Azeez Mohammed Audu has expressed his fears on the stark reality of his team, Kwara United adopted Ibadan home ground as the 2023 NPFL kick-off this weekend across ten centers in the country.

The Kwara Stadium failed to meet up the basic club licensing requirements as the pitch is undergoing renovations hence Kwara United have to adopt the renovated Lekan Salami Stadium as their home for the 2023 season.

The coach bares his mind in a chat with www.234sportsng.com on the reality on the ground and how prepared his team is for the challenges of the new season.

“Every club would love to play Infront of their fans, even Barcelona will always want to play at Camp Nou" began the coach.

" The support from the fans is always a plus to every team but we just have to adjust and face the reality".

The former Al Hilal FC of Sudan coach also admitted that Kwara United FC found themselves in a very tough group in the abridged league.

Kwara United is paired in group A alongside Nasarawa United, Plateau United, Gombe United, El Kanemi Warriors, Enyimba International, Akwa United, Bendel Insurance, Shooting Stars, and Remo Stars where two teams will be relegated at the end of the season.

Coach Azez said: “The group is very tough but we have nothing to do but buckle up and be ready".

“If you want to be a champion you have to face and beat anybody that comes your way and I think with the mentality from the boys they are ready to fight to get the needed results.

Coach continues,  “We are prepared, we’ve played some friendly matches the only thing we are working on now is how to get the player to play together and we are doing that we are ready for the season.

Barring unfunforeseen circumstances, Kwara United will kick off their campaign against Gombe United on Sunday at the adopted Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Where they will begin their quest to finish among the top three at the end of the regular season and stand a chance of qualifying for CAF competitions as well win the league.

The Interim Management Committee IMC, the body saddled with the organization of the 2023 season has stated that the top 3 teams from groups A and B of the abridged season will play in the Super 6 to determine the teams that will represent the country on the continent and the winner will be crowned the winner of the league.

A hundred million naira has been declared as the prize money for the winner among other innovations the IMC has declared ahead of the new season.
